Linda Tasker was raised in upstate NY farm country, and has lived overseas for more than a decade.  She earned a BS in Chemical Engineering at Cornell University and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Science at the University of Nottingham (UK). Her career focused on biochemistry and biopharmaceutical R&D; now retired. Her two children are graduates of Harriton High School and her husband is employed at a company that manufactures specialty ingredients used in foods and pharmaceuticals. Linda has served in executive and leadership roles for a number of neighborhood, school, political, and social organizations. Linda’s expertise is in written communication and training, project management, and volunteer coordination.  She is particularly proud of her work in Shanghai with a challenging, multilingual, expatriate community, building mutual support networks and raising money to address the educational and health needs of local children.  The part of history she enjoys most is fashion and clothing.

What is your favorite Lower Merion/Narberth memory?
A solitary, nighttime winter walk in a gentle snow flurry.

How long have you lived in Lower Merion/Narberth? In which community?
Since 2016, on the edge of Bala Cynwyd.

Why do you want to serve on the board of the Society?
After living overseas in a country that ignores its past in many ways (China) and living in a country surrounded by its past (England), I value the deep roots of Lower Merion, both in the American and pre-American periods. I enjoy learning the stories of regular people, their experiences in Lower Merion, and would like to see them preserved. I’d also like to see the entire community grow in its appreciation of our history and use that knowledge to inform the future direction of our township.
