“To live well, to laugh often, to love much” are the wise words on the front page of a calendar printed in 1929 for members of the Woman’s Club of Bala Cynwyd.
After over 100 years of service to the community, the Club donated their records to LMHS in spring 2024. Mindful of the wealth of information contained in this collection, the Society applied for and was awarded a Historical and Archival Records Care Grant from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission in order to process the WCBC materials. We look forward to featuring more items from this collection in the coming months.
In summer 2023, LMHS intern Breya Scarlett inventoried the collection prior to transfer. Breya dove into the amazing history she uncovered during her inventory and compiled her research into a publication and presentation titled, “To Be of Use Somewhere in France,” which can be watched on our YouTube page.
LMHS has over 50,000 items in our collection. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, please contact us at research@lowermerionhistory.org or visit us during our open hours on Wednesdays from 7:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. It’s fun to explore in person!
