Get Involved

There are several ways to get more involved with the Lower Merion Historical Society. We’d love to have you join us as a member, attend our public events, become a volunteer, and of course, we welcome donations to help us do our work.

Your tax-deductible donation or membership dues support the stewardship, education, preservation, and outreach programs of the Society.

In addition to memberships, LMHS welcomes one-time and recurring donations from individuals and businesses. If your workplace matches employee donations, we can help you with that as well. As a benefit, we invite donors to be featured in the Donor Spotlight series of our blog. Donations can also be made anonymously if that is your preference.

LMHS uses Zeffy to process credit card payments. Please click the button below to be redirected to Zeffy to make a donation.

In addition, LMHS welcomes planned giving. Making a gift in your will or living trust, known as a bequest, can make a significant difference in stewardship of our community’s history. Contact us at info@lowermerionhistory.org with questions or to notify us of your planned gift.

If you are inquiring about donating an item to our collections, please review the items we accept in our Collections Management Policy and contact us at info@lowermerionhistory.org.

Volunteer

Volunteer

The Lower Merion Historical Society could not exist without the volunteers who give their time and energy to support our collections and programs. We rely on volunteers to perform many essential functions that help us preserve and share our community’s history, like transcription, data entry, research, scanning, photography, and more.

Even with a few hours, you can make a significant contribution to preserving our local history. To participate in a local history project that suits your time and interests, please contact us at info@lowermerionhistory.org.

Benefits

  • Get in touch with primary sources. Nothing quite matches the experience of examining documents and objects created by previous generations.
  • Build community. Preserving our history and sharing our stories helps bind us together in a common cultural experience.
  • Discover your own past. Who lived in my house? What was life like back then?
  • Work with great people. Meet neighbors and new friends with shared interests.
  • Get to know our unique collection. For three-quarters of a century we’ve collected and preserved an unmatched archive of books, photos, maps, and artifacts that tell our story. And continue to do so!
  • Learn new skills. Volunteering at LMHS is great for students. Gain experience in historical/archival research, learn our collection management software, write for our blog, and/or program a public event.
Events

Events

Join us in the audience or volunteer at an event. Choose from tabling at community events, historical marker dedication ceremonies, educational programs, and unique experiences like our Tintype Portrait Day. Come interact with LMHS and other community members!
