88th Pa. Infantry
Recruited in 1861 in Philadelphia and Berks County. Attached to Army of the Potomac (I Corps, V Corps). Took part in 19 combat operations including Second Bull Run, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Wilderness, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, and Five Forks. Lost 181 enlisted men and officers to injury and sickness. 2 died at Andersonville. Regiment took part in Grand Review in D.C., then mustered out June 30, 1865. 16 of its men transited Camp Discharge.
