87th Pa. Infantry
Regiment recruited in 1861 in York, Dauphin, Adams, Allegheny, Lawrence, Washington, Lebanon and Franklin Counties. Attached to Middle Department, then Army of the Potomac (III Corps, VI Corps) and Army of the Shenandoah. Took part in 13 combat operations including Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor, and Petersburg. Lost 202 enlisted men and officers to injury or illness. 12 died at Andersonville. Regiment mustered out June 29, 1865, in Alexandria, Va. 2 of its men transited Camp Discharge.
