51st Pa. Infantry
Regiment recruited in 1861 in Montgomery (Cos. A, C, D,F, I), Centre, Union, Lycoming, Snyder, and Northampton Counties. Attached to Army of the Potomac (IX Corps), Army of the Ohio. Was in 24 combat engagements including Second Bull Run, South Mountain, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Vicksburg, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, Crater, Fort Stedman. Lost 314 enlisted men and officers to injuries and illness. 13 died at Andersonville, 2 at Florence. Regiment took part in Grand Review in D.C., mustered out July 27, 1865. 1 of its men passed through Camp Discharge.
