Mustered in August 1861 in Phila. at age 26. Promoted to corporal Oct. 1, 1862, to sergeant Feb. 1, 1863. Shot in left thigh twice, at Gettysburg July 3, 1863, and at Spotsylvania Court House May 12, 1864. Admitted to Harewood Hospital in Washington, then Haddington Hospital in Phila. Mustered out Aug. 27, 1864, expiration of term. At Camp Discharge Oct. 18-Nov.12, 1864.
