69th Pa. Infantry

Regiment ('The Irish Volunteers') was raised in 1861 in Philadelphia, part of the famous Philadelphia Brigade. Part of Army of the Potomac (II Corps). It saw action in 13 combat operations, including Second Bull Run, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor and Petersburg. Lost 288 enlisted men and officers to injury and disease. 15-20 of its ranks died at Andersonville, 1 at Florence. Regiment took part in Grand Review in D.C., then mustered out July 1, 1865. 28 of its men passed through Camp Discharge, including 10 Andersonville survivors.
