29th Pa. Infantry

Regiment organized in 1861 with men from Philadelphia, Montgomery (Cos. C & F), Franklin and Erie Counties. Attached to the Army of the Potomac (V Corps, XII Corps), Army of Virginia, Army of the Cumberland. Involved in 21 combat engagements including First Winchester, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Lookout Mountain, Missionary Ridge, Atlanta Campaign, Kennesaw Mountain, Peachtree Creek, Atlanta Siege, Sherman's March to the Sea, Carolinas Campaign. Lost 187 enlisted men and officers to injuries or illness. 1 of its men died at Andersonville. Regiment mustered out July 1865. 14 of its men went through Camp Discharge; 7 had been POWs, including 1 Andersonville survivor.
