47th Pa. Infantry

Regiment organized in 1861 in Harrisburg with men recruited from 6 outlying counties. Engaged in capture of Jacksonville and battles of Cedar Creek and Opequan. 290 enlisted men and officers died from wounds or disease. Took part in the Grand Review in D.C. Mustered out Dec. 5, 1865. 1 of its men passed through Camp Discharge.
