31st Pa. Infantry (2nd Pa. Reserves)

Regiment organized in 1861 with men from Philadelphia, Huntingdon, Blair, and Lancaster Counties. Part of Army of the Potomac (I Corps, V Corps). Involved in 17 combat engagements including Seven Days, Mechanicsville, Savage Station, Malvern Hill, Second Bull Run, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor. Lost 151 enlisted men and officers to injury or illness. Regiment took part in the Grand Review in D.C., then mustered out June 16, 1864. 5 of its men went through Camp Discharge, including 1 Andersonville survivor.
