Mustered into service June 14, 1861, in West Chester at age 23, a teacher. Captured May 5, 1864, at Wilderness. Imprisoned at Andersonville. Recorded at Camp Discharge Jan. 25, 1865, and discharged three days later. Joined 7th U.S. Veteran Volunteers, probably doing garrison duty back at Camp Discharge in August 1865.
