6th Pa. Cavalry (70th Pa. Volunteers)
Organized in 1861 with men from Philadelphia, Chester, Berks and Luzerne Counties. Also known as Rush's Lancers for their early use of 9-foot lances. Saw action in 12 operations including Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Cold Harbor, and Petersburg. 167 enlisted men and officers died from injuries or illness. Regiment took part in Grand Review in D.C. 20 of its men moved through Camp Discharge, including 2 Andersonville survivors
