96th Pa. Infantry
Recruited in 1861 from Schuylkill, Berks, Luzerne, and Dauphin Counties. Attached to Army of the Potomac, Army of the Rappahannock, Army of the Shenandoah. Took part in 23 actions, including Malvern Hill, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Wilderness, Spotsylvania CH, Cold Harbor. 219 of its enlisted men and officers died of injury or sickness. 3 died at Andersonville. Regiment mustered out Oct. 21, 1864. 21 of its men passed through Camp Discharge, 9 of them Andersonville survivors.
