8th Pa. Cavalry (89th Pa. Volunteers)
Recruited in 1861 in Montgomery (Co. M), Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester and Lycoming Counties. Took part in 28 operations including Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Wilderness, Spotsylvania CH, Cold Harbor, and Petersburg. Lost 188 enlisted men and officers during service to wounds or sickness. 57 of its men were at Camp Discharge, including 15 Andersonville survivors.
