81st Pa. Infantry
Regiment recruited in 1861 in Philadelphia, Carbon and Luzerne Counties. Attached to Army of the Potomac (II Corps). Took part in 23 combat operations including Seven Pines, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor and Petersburg. 306 enlisted men and officers succumbed to injury or illness. 3 men died at Andersonville. Regiment mustered out June 29, 1865. 12 of its men transited Camp Discharge, including 1 Andersonville survivor.
