Recruited in 1861 in Philadelphia and numerous Pa. counties. Saw action in 11 engagements including Malvern Hill, Second Bull Run, Antietam, Fredericksburg, and Fair Oaks. 277 enlisted men and officers succumbed to injury of sickness during service. 4 of its men passed through Camp Discharge.
