97th Pa. Infantry
Formed in 1861, comprising men from Chester and Delaware Counties. Assigned to Department of the South. Took part in 14 engagements including Fort Wagner, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, the Crater, Fair Oaks, Carolinas Campaign. Lost 322 of its men to wounds or sickness. 6 men died at Andersonville. Regiment mustered out Aug. 28, 1865, in Weldon, N.C. 25 of its men transited Camp Discharge.
