48th Pa. Infantry
Regiment organized in 1861 solely with men from Schuylkill County. Attached to the Army of the Potomac. Was in 19 combat engagements including Second Bull Run, South Mountain, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, the Crater. 301 enlisted men and officers died from wounds or disease. Took part in the Grand Review in D.C. Mustered out July 17, 1865. 1 of its men passed through Camp Discharge.
