5th Pa. Cavalry (65th Pa. Volunteers)

Also known as the Cameron Dragoons. Recruited in 1861 from Philadelphia, Allegheny, Lycoming and Venango Counties. Took part in 7 engagements including Seven Days, Petersburg, Appomattox and Five Forks. 293 enlisted men and officers succumbed to wounds or ailments during service. Regiment mustered out August 1865 in Philadelphia. 18 of its men were at Camp Discharge, 13 of them Andersonville survivors.
