Lt. General Julius W. Becton, Jr. (USA-Retired), LMHS 1944, Bryn Mawr Elementary School. General Becton grew up at Bryn Mawr Court (College Hall) Apartments at Montgomery and Morris Avenues. He rose to be a lieutenant general in the army, one of the highest-ranking African-Americans in U. S. military history. He is a Distinguished Alumnus of Lower Merion High School.
