Bicking Family Cemetery Limited Public Access Located off Fairview Road near Summit Road Penn Valley, PA 19072

Small cemetery plot with fieldstone wall; about 18 headstones dating 1782-1844. John Frederick Bicking (Boeking) 1730-1809. Born Winterburg, Germany. Operated various mills along Mill Creek and a fishery on an island in the Schuylkill River. Excerpts from Will of Fredrick Bicking, 28 October, 1809, Montgomery County Wills, Book 3, No. 108, page 21. "I give and devised unto my son Frederick Bicking all my messuage paper mill and the following described tract or piece of land on which the same are erected situate in Lower Merion Township aforesaid...Together with all the presses, stoves and all articles in and fixtures to the said Paper Mill belonging. To hold to him my said son Frederick his heirs and assigns forever except as before upon condition nevertheless that he and they do and shall at all times permit and suffer the burial place now on part of the said land to be used as the same is now enclosed with a stone wall by my family and their descendants and husbands and wives as a family burial ground forever without interruption or denial and free way and passage to and from the same by such convenient load or way least hurtful to the premises aforesaid he my said son keeping the said wall and gate in good order and repair at all times forever and upon this further condition that he my said son his heirs and assigns do and shall account and pay to my general estate the sum of fourth thousand pounds current money of Pennsylvania with Interest...."
