13th Pa. Cavalry (117th Pa. Volunteers)

Also known as the Irish Dragoons, the regiment was organized in 1861 with men from Philadelphia, Cumberland, Lycoming, Pike and Wayne Counties. Saw action in 14 operations including Wilderness, Spotsylvania CH, Cold Harbor, and Petersburg. Lost 290 enlisted men and officers to wounds or sickness during service. Mustered out July 1865 in Raleigh, N.C. 13 of its separated men including 4 Andersonville survivors passed through Camp Discharge.
