183rd Pa. Infantry

Recruited 1863-64 in Philadelphia. Nicknamed the Fourth Union League Regiment. Took part in 16 engagements including Wilderness, Spotsylvania CH, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, and Appomattox. 187 enlisted men and officers died from wounds and disease during service. 19 died at Andersonville. Regiment was in Grand Review in D.C., then mustered out July 13, 1865. 15 of its men passed through Camp Discharge, two of them Andersonville survivors.
