106th Pa. Infantry

Recruited in 1861, mostly from Philadelphia firemen. Also in Montgomery (Co. G), Bradford and Lycoming Counties. Was part of the famed Philadelphia Brigade that helped to repulse Pickett's Charge. Fought in 9 engagements including Savage Station, Malvern Hill, Antietam, Gettysburg. Lost 197 enlisted men and officers to fatal wounds or illness. 12 died at Andersonville, 1 at Florence. Regiment took part in Grand Review in D.C., then mustered out June 30, 1865. 34 passed through Camp Discharge, including 18 Andersonville survivors.
