The General Wayne Tavern 1704. Montgomery Ave. (Old Lancaster Road) and Meeting House Lane, Merion.
One of the very few remaining colonial taverns restored and maintained in its original state. Knownalso as "Streepers" and "William Penn" - operated early by Anthony Tunis, then by Llewelly Youngof the Pennsylvania militia.
About here the Continental Army encamped September 7th, 1777.
